Title: Monsters
Fandom: Final Fantasy: Crisis Core
Characters/Pairings: Angeal, Genesis, Sephiroth, Zack
Rating: PG
Warnings: None, unless you haven't played the game.
Author Note: This was originally going to be something for Sephiroth alone, and then I figured I could do something with the three friends and somehow, Zack wormed his way in. I'm actually very happy with how this turned out, even if it wasn't what I intended. Maybe I'll even do individual drabbles for each.
Summary: Created beings have no choice.
Dedication: No one
Created beings have no choice. Those born of monstrous intentions cannot validate their existence in any other way--they are merely monsters. What do created beings--monsters--do when they've realized what they are? They can never blend in with society, they are not fit for it. There is nothing left... nothing but to wish, to dream, to sleep and wait for the day that they, in some form, have their place. Monsters eschew emotions. Monsters know only two things... they know revenge and they seek world conquest.
Angeal seeks something. He has no desire for the world and he has never been one for revenge. He's lost, but too proud to accept it. He reaches out, his dreams growing from being a protector, from honoring his family to something that seems simple, yes, but unachievable. 'Angels only want one thing: to be human'.
Genesis' goal is simple, absolute. He wants many things, but it's clear what he wants. He hates Shinra, and thus, he wants revenge. He wants to live, and so he searches for methods to stop his deterioration, to live that extra year and prove that he's not just some science experiment gone wrong. He envies Sephiroth and looks to conquer him, even if it is with something dirty, such as mind games. He just wants... to have his own story, his own beautiful, poetic adventure, to be a hero that slays the beast and to be embraced by his own Goddess.
Sephiroth loathes all. He hates those who brought him into this world, those who are normal, those who unconsciously rub their humanity in his face, those who claimed to be friends but are only traitors. He hates those who lied to him and he hates this planet. He seeks revenge against them all. He wants to see them suffer, for them to beg for forgiveness and pray to be saved by something. He tosses away the title of hero to be the son he believes he should be, to atone for not understanding sooner that it is his destiny to rid this planet of humanity, to give it to Mother as a gift and as he works towards his revenge against those who stole everything away from he and Mother, he seeks to conquer the world.
SOLDIER are said to be monsters. Those who reach First Class are superhuman, are unparalleled in strength, but Zack doesn't agree. Even if he is different, even if he's just a bit scared about what he is, the science that helped him pass that boundary between human and monster, he refuses to accept he's anything but human and the job of a human, of SOLDIER, is to slay the monsters.
So he's ready for Angeal's confused, yet determined will to fight and he'll finish Genesis' story and he will be the hero to rid the world of Sephiroth's evil, not because he likes to play hero, but it's his goal and his honor as SOLDIER, as a human.
