She works hard for attention from the humans around her. Working outside of Kantarou's exorcisms is one of her favorite hobbies. Most complain, but living the life of a tamed youkai... do they have any idea what it's like? Especially with such an idiot master.

Kantarou doesn't look at her. Haruka's a good student when he wants to be, but there isn't much of anything besides being companions under the care of that idiot master. Muu-chan and Sugino-sama are welcome guests, far more polite than the other two, but they, too, don't stay long enough to show her the attention that all youko crave.

Tonight, it's late. She stayed out with some co-workers from the Milk Bar, but her duties are not done.

Kantarou is slumped over his overdue article, barely a sentence written on his rough draft. She lays a blanket over him so he doesn't catch a cold.

Haruka is, or was, playing watch dog, flopped over on his side and sleeping as peacefully as anyone could hope. She grabs his sheets and tosses them over him, too, because even though the legendary onikui may not succumb to a simple cold, it's something she feels compelled to do. She gives each a little peck in the forehead and moves further into the house, following the exclamations of 'Muu'.

Muu-chan is dancing in circles, a very pleased Sugino-sama clapping and complimenting her every move.

"Sugino-sama, it's late," she says as respectfully as possible, but she doesn't leave out the hint of warning in her tone. Kantarou needs his rest if they're to get food and Haruka needs his sleep to keep Kantarou on track.

"I know," he says softly, lifting up Muu-chan with bright smile. "I promised Onikui that I'd wait for you to come home. Kantarou was worried you'd gotten lost."

"Kantarou...?"

Sugino frowns. "That stupid human had kidnapped Muu-chan until I agreed! "

That sounds more like Kantarou. Still, happiness swells in her heart. "Thank you, Sugino-sama. You can go now. And be careful! Try not to catch a cold, you two!"

The flutter of white feathers and an excited 'Muu' is all she hears before he takes off, shouting something. She doesn't understand the relationships of those around her and maybe they really do piss her off sometimes (oftentimes), but there comes a certain satisfaction with making sure they take care of themselves. Kantarou might not save her as fiercely as he might Haruka, but her idiot master certainly did come eventually.
