Title: Wait for You
Fandom: Blood+
Characters/Pairings: Haji/Saya
Word Count: 396
Rating: G
Warnings: Spoilers for the last episode, I think
Author Note: DD: Poor Saya. I felt bad when she went back to sleep. Can you tell I'm on a haji/Saya kick?
Summary: She can't wait any longer
Disclaimer: Found on PB
Her fingers wrap around the wires of the chain-link fence, gaze on the sunset sky, painted beautiful hues of orange and gold. Her eyes droop, her hands slacken and she barely catches herself from falling. How long has she been awake? It hasn't felt like long enough, but she must stay awake. She must wait until he returns.
She stares across the court where her dad and Riku often played, now nothing more than ghosts stalking her vision, reminders of her ineptitudes. Is it good or bad that he doesn't walk among them, shouting encouragement or giving her a smile? Some would think it's a good thing, but she can't help but long to see his face before she dreams for thirty years. He saved her. If it weren't for Haji (and yes, even big brother Kai), she would have joined Diva in death.
'I love you' are simple words, but powerful ones that took almost two centuries for him to say. She wants to live on, by his side, to see those smiles and feel his love. She wants to know him as a person, the person he was before he became her Chevalier all those years ago.
If he died protecting her--
"No!"
Her outburst startles even herself, clinging more heavily to the fence. Haji isn't dead. He can't be dead. 'I'll be with you, forever and always.' That was what he said every time she went to sleep, he would repeat those words to her. Whenever doubt struck her, he would say it again and again until she believed it.
She continues to wait, but her body is heavy and her mind is cloudy. Haji won't repeat those words before she falls asleep. She won't get to fall asleep to his face. The only thing she will have is his memory, the last memory of them together, when he rushes off to battle with her sword in hand to strike down Amshel so she may run with her sister's babies. When he was pierced by her sister's only living Chevalier. When that cieling collapsed on top of them...
There's still a bit more time left. She can wait a little bit longer. She'll spend the time left with Kai. Even if haji doesn't return to her side before she's asleep again, somehow, she knows he'll be waiting beside her when she awakens.
