Haji has changed so much from then.
A dream that carries upon it a message of change and pain that she cannot comprehend. This dream that shows a lighter side that she never believed could exist in her shield. Haji is strong. He is fast. He is protective, all of the things she can remember seeing in her dream. No one else seems to notice probably the most crucial part of Haji is missing.
Where is Haji's smile?
Her fingers trace along her own lips in the mirror, pretending they're his and trying desperately to keep that picture in her mind. Haji was a lot of things back then. He spoke out of turn, no matter what she said, when it came to her health. He didn't hesitate to touch her gently. He was oblivious, maybe even innocent. He smiled at her...
His happiness faded so much that he was now only half of what she remembered? The hazy past and vague dreams aren't helping her remember. She couldn't help but feel responsible for taking that smile away. The promise they made... maybe that was the key? If only... she could remember what it was!
"You have such a wonderful smile..."
"Saya, the ice."
She tenses, glancing over her shoulder at Liza. The block of ice she asked Haji to bring...
When it was all over, when Diva was dead and they were free from all this Chiropteran hunting, she would find a way to bring Haji's smile back. He had a family now. There was no need for him to be sad any longer.
"Thank you, Liza."
