Summary: Riku has a power...
Dedication: Merry Christmas Daddy. It's short and I'll get you some Nami and Bya-tan stuff in a little bit, but I hope you like it anyway!
Riku has a strange power.
It’s not something weird like mind control or something kinda cool like setting things on fire. It’s not really bad, even if it’s not necessarily good. He’s not the only one who can do it and Sora’s pretty sure that if things were different, he might not have had the chance to experience it so nicely.
Fighters have the power to twist reality with their words alone. It sounds like a lot of work, memorizing all those words, making the right moves, knowing what to say in an instant. He’s never been one for reading a whole lot and he’s even less adept in Language Arts.
Twisting reality isn’t really what gets him, though. It’s cool to see things be repelled, fire flying around, wind slashing relentlessly (as long as no one gets seriously hurt), but that isn’t the power he’s talking about. He supposes he should be impressed with them, that he should cheer every time Riku protects him effectively, but that kind of thing doesn’t worry him.
The power Riku has is over him, not in their Fighter/Sacrifice relationship, but as a person, it really makes him just a little afraid of it.
Trust me.
And Sora can do nothing but nod and allow those hands to pull him close while he listens to the rumble in Riku’s chest as he does his best to spare him pain.
Think only of me.
And Sora’s mind is blank, even with the sound of words from across the battlefield that could bring him to his knees. Everything is replaced with Riku’s eyes, the things Riku is saying and the warmth of Riku’s body that promises he’ll be all right.
Love me…
And while Sora’s face still heats up when Riku says it and gives him a chaste kiss, he can’t help but ease into his embrace, cling to him, as embarrassed as he is, and feel that strange feeling bubble up in the pit of his stomach. He doesn’t know what love is, or how it’s supposed to feel, but Riku’s strange power makes things real. Even if he doesn’t know anything about it, Sora’s pretty sure that Riku’s made him… love him.
