Catchy Tunes Stick
Title: Catchy Tune
Fandom: Final Fantasy: Crisis Core
Characters/Pairings: Sephiroth, Zack, Angeal, Genesis
Rating: PG
Warnings: Poor attempts at humor ahead. : D;
Author Note: xD I hate it when this happens so much.
Summary: Zack Fair has a bad habit.
Dedication: To every poor soul who suffers from this. xD
Zack Fair has a bad habit. It's not drinking out of the milk carton, though no one would put it past him if he really did something like that, or biting his nails. It's nothing truly disruptive or someone one would think would be all that bothersome. In fact, more than half of Shinra, and even a large group of SOLDIER does it, but Kunsel knows that it's more dangerous when Zack's behind it than some random stranger.
This habit of Zack's is nothing more than humming.
It's not a threat, it's not in any way a hindrance to all that Shinra stands for, it won't interrupt any wars, but it's not the humming that's the problem. It's that... he always has some catchy tune, louder than necessary, while he waits in line for something, while he waits 'patiently' for his orders, or simply walking down the halls, surrounded by his fellow SOLDIER. Still, it shouldn't be enough to distract professionals.
However, by the end of the day, even the great Sephiroth, reading over a report as he makes his way to the training room is unconsciously humming Zack's tune from this morning, probably spread all around the floor and Angeal before it has embedded itself so heavily in the First's mind.
"Would you stop that?" Genesis grumbles irritably, standing outside of SOLDIER's personal training room, LOVELESS opened, but not read as Genesis struggles to keep himself from following trends and humming the same damn song that's been stuck in his head all day.
"Stop what?" Sephiroth asks blankly, not looking up from the report he's been pouring over.
"That incessant humming!" Genesis fumes, casting a glare over his book, daring the 'Hero of Shinra' to feign his innocence just so he has a reason to take his aggressions out on someone who can handle it.
"I have no idea what you mean," he drawls.
Their silence dies just as quickly as it comes as Sephiroth, lost in his own thoughts and the, apparently, very important document in his hands, starts the damn song over from the beginning and, this time, Genesis is finally trapped and joins him, finger tapping the edge of his beloved play while they await the arrival of Angeal.
It isn't long before Angeal's presence makes itself known in the form of a third voice to add to the humming duo, throwing each other off, each of them glancing at the other before it's silently agreed that none of them will speak of it, just to keep their sanity.
Quiet conversations about new recruits, about latest happenings in Shinra, missions and the hold up on the Training room today, keeps the song from their minds. Genesis has seemed to pacify, back to reciting his play, inwardly or aloud, whichever line interests him. "The Goddess shall fall from the darkest sky. Spreading her wings of light and darkness, she shall lead us to our paradise, along with her Gift."
"I think I preferred the song stuck in my head," Sephiroth remarks casually.
Before Genesis can retort, the door opens and a spiky head of black hair, Angeal's 'puppy protege', emerges, humming obliviously to himself as he rushes past, Angeal chuckling about some 'date'. None of them pay any heed to him as he goes, letting him hum his tune, a look of unadulterated joy on his face. They enter without a word and set up the simulation. It's not until they wait for the simulation to boot up do they realize that Zack's humming has followed them once again, Genesis just as guilty as Angeal or Sephiroth.
