Title: Revival
Fandom: Blood+
Characters/Pairings: David, Joel
Rating: PG
Warnings: Spoilers?
Author Note: Bah! Another David. :3 This time, some Joel. Gah, I love these two. I don't think, aside from Mao, but she kinda redeems herself later on, that I don't like. xD
Summary: He insisted he come here alone, he walked all the way from the farm to London, knowing that there was something that Joel could teach him.
Disclaimer: I don't own the icon or Blood+
He stares down upon Joel's cheery expression, the heavy burden obviously there, but not slowing him down, either. Perhaps his memory fails him, but Joel should be even more angry than he is. Was it not a year ago that Joel could get up and walk around his desk, just because he wanted to? Joel had taken pleasure in dancing, in the simple things that humans took for granted and it was his fault...
"Would you like something to drink?"
"I've had enough of that for a lifetime."
"I see..." Maybe it's just him, but somehow there's a hint of sadness. He doesn't like how things have gone, where things could have ended up. Joel is, apparently, as proud as his name should imply, never surrendering to the baser instincts as he had, when humans feel ultimate despair.
But Joel's smile, his fire, his resolve, all come out in a single sentence, a sentence that renews the fire within his own heart:
"I want to revive the Red Shield."
He insisted he come here alone, he walked all the way from the farm to London, knowing that there was something that Joel could teach him. David has always prided himself on being strong, on being a protector, on being the shield that Saya needs, but he doesn't know true strength. No... Joel has proven to him that he's still an idiot kid in an adult body and he needs to grow up and accept life for what it is.
"Yes, sir!"
