Look at me...
That is the language of the flower. They're beautiful. They carry such enticing smells, but in the end, their life and bonds are so fragile. They only want someone to stare upon that beauty, luring in prey with their colors and scents, force an attachment on them and shatter an unspoken contract by withering and dying as soon as they are cut from their roots.
He gently plucks a yellow rose from bush, eyes cast on it with contempt. They are no better than flowers. He admires their beauty. They all admire something about this new and exciting world. They take their pleasure in the simple things because that's all they have. He can't help but compare these simple things, like the waning moonlight and the withering flowers to their own lives and the ones they left behind in piles of dust, taken away on the winds.
"Karman..."
"What?" grumbles the brunette.
"Look at me..."
"What?" Karman repeats.
He crushes the flower in his hands, crinkles the petals and lets them scatter to the wind. "Look only at me."
The shifting of the black robes behind him is the only sound for a moment, but he already knows Karman's expression. He's exasperated. Embarrassed by his words. But this is his what he yearns for, longing for confirmation to reassure him in the little time he has left. He--they--are very much like flowers. Their life is short, cut by the stem and forced to live an undertermined but limited amount of time. Like flowers left unattended, they, too, wilt and shatter. He doesn't have a sweet scent and no matter what is said in moments of passion, he is not pretty to look at, but for this time left, he wants Karman to look at him.
"Stop saying stupid stuff, Moses... it's not like I can look at anyone else."
